I know of no such custom. Generally when being attacked, the intent is plain.

so compass is trying to do an experiment here, right? they want to know what scares us. sometimes that involves dying and definitely legitimate fear of dying. but bringing in new test subjects every time one bites it would be annoying, so they just... bring us back. supposedly there's a limited number of times you can get resurrected before it stops happening, but i haven't seen it happen. [ also there's death penalties but he's not covering that yet ] so you die, a day later you wake up in the graveyard, brand new. and whoever killed you the first time can come back and go for round 2

Then it appears his penchant for deceit remains true. You are mortal, and of Earth. He has nothing but contempt for you kind. Once he sought to enslave your planet simply to sate his own wounded pride.

You cannot trust what he says, no matter how earnest he may seem. Indeed, he has come to believe many of his own lies, but it will make him no less deadly.

i get the whole hating everyone thing, that's pretty obvious with the god complex part, but seriously, i don't have a better answer as to why me. he made a post about it when he first showed up, saying he didn't plan on killing anyone except me
